Enrollment begins with an inquiry and a $75 trial lesson. Leg Up evaluates each rider’s age, experience, readiness, goals, and scheduling needs before recommending an enrollment path.

Placement and availability
- Class placement is based on rider eligibility, class suitability, safety, and available space.
- A trial lesson or inquiry does not guarantee a particular class, instructor, time, or ongoing placement.
- If a suitable opening is unavailable, Leg Up may offer a future opening, an alternate class, or waitlist placement.
- Enrollment becomes official when Leg Up confirms the placement and all required enrollment steps and payments are completed.
Rolling entry
New students may begin throughout the Program Year when an appropriate class has space. A rider entering after scheduled billing dates may need to pay more than one installment at enrollment so the account aligns with the fixed advance-billing calendar.
For Quarter Enrollment, tuition is calculated at $75 for each scheduled class date remaining after the official start date. Dates before that start date are not missed lessons and are not eligible for makeups.
Placement distinction: Quarter Enrollment is fixed term. Completion may support future placement consideration, but it does not guarantee enrollment in an ongoing Year-Round or School Year class.

Policy 02
Tuition & advance billing
What monthly tuition means: Each monthly payment is an advance installment toward the selected program’s total commitment. It is not payment only for lessons occurring during that calendar month.
Fixed billing calendar
- Ongoing-program installments are scheduled from July 5 through June 5.
- The July 5 installment begins the upcoming Program Year. It is tuition—not a deposit or an additional fee.
- Three monthly installments are allocated administratively to each instructional Quarter.
- An active payment method is required for ongoing enrollment.

Late entry and account alignment
When enrollment begins after one or more scheduled installment dates, the initial payment may include multiple installments. This is catch-up billing that aligns the account with the regular calendar; it is not an additional program charge.
2026–2027 transition for returning families: Because the new billing structure was adopted after July 5, 2026, the transition collection includes both July and August tuition. Normal monthly drafts resume September 5.

Policy 03
Program terms & withdrawal
Enrollment commitments allow Leg Up to reserve class space, staff instruction appropriately, and maintain consistent rider progress. The applicable term depends on the selected program.
Year-Round Program
- Twelve-month contracted term
- $2,880 total tuition
- $300 early-termination fee
- Final account reconciliation when enrollment ends
School Year Program
- Six-month initial term
- $1,560 minimum commitment
- Continues after the initial term until proper notice
- $300 early-termination fee before completing the initial term
Withdrawal after the applicable commitment
Proper withdrawal notice must provide at least 30 days and must contain four scheduled lesson dates. The final four-lesson obligation is valued at $75 per scheduled lesson, for a total of $300.
Leg Up reconciles that final obligation against tuition already paid in advance. If advance tuition exceeds the final amount due, the account is adjusted and any applicable excess prepaid tuition is refunded. If the advance balance is insufficient, the remaining amount is due.
Reconciliation example: A family gives proper notice containing four scheduled lessons. The final obligation is $300. Tuition already paid in advance is applied to that amount, and only the resulting balance or excess is charged or refunded.
Important: Stopping attendance does not itself end enrollment or replace the required withdrawal notice. Class space and billing continue until enrollment is ended under the applicable terms.

Policy 04
Summer enrollment & Fall placement
Summer is part of Leg Up’s four-Quarter instructional year. Summer participation supports continuity of instruction and affects whether a rider’s regular class space can be protected for Fall.
Year-Round riders
- Full Summer participation is included in the program.
- Year-Round riders receive two additional Summer travel makeups.
- Continuous enrollment supports ongoing class placement through the contracted Program Year.
School Year riders
School Year riders may continue with full Summer participation at the regular program rate or select Summer FLEX-7, subject to eligibility, scheduling, and availability.
Summer FLEX-7
- $525 prepaid tuition
- Seven Summer classes selected in advance
- No separate FLEX-7 registration fee
- Requested date changes are subject to suitable class availability and are not guaranteed
- All FLEX-7 classes must be completed within the Summer Quarter
Class-space protection
- Summer participation allows Leg Up to plan continuity and give appropriate consideration to Fall placement.
- When a rider pauses Summer enrollment, the regular class space may be released.
- A returning rider may need to rejoin a waitlist or accept an alternate opening; the prior class is not guaranteed.
- New Summer students may enroll when appropriate space is available, but Summer participation alone does not guarantee ongoing Fall placement.

Policy 05
Registration fees
Registration fees are separate from tuition and follow a July 1–June 30 registration year.

Quarter registration fees paid during the same July 1–June 30 cycle count toward the $65 annual registration cap. A new registration cycle begins July 1; prior-year registration payments do not carry into the new cycle.

Policy 06
Attendance, closures & makeups
Quarter structure: Each instructional Quarter contains ten scheduled lesson dates and a designated makeup week. The makeup week does not create an automatic eleventh lesson.
Student absences
- An eligible missed lesson may be replaced during the designated makeup period, subject to the program’s notice requirements and class availability.
- Makeups must be completed within the applicable Quarter and do not carry into a later Quarter.
- A makeup is a replacement for an eligible missed class, not an additional class.
- Dates before a mid-Quarter rider’s official enrollment date are not absences and do not create makeup eligibility.
Closures and Leg Up cancellations
- Published closure dates are not scheduled instructional dates and do not require makeups.
- If Leg Up cancels a scheduled class, Leg Up communicates the appropriate replacement arrangement. A Leg Up cancellation is handled separately from a student-requested makeup.
- Always assume class will be held unless Leg Up communicates a cancellation.
- When mounted instruction is not appropriate but the facility remains open, Leg Up may provide a structured unmounted barn class. Barn classes are part of the horsemanship curriculum and count as scheduled instruction.
Summer treatment
Year-Round riders receive two additional Summer travel makeups. FLEX-7 riders follow their prescheduled Summer dates and the FLEX scheduling provisions. All Summer replacements must be completed within the Summer Quarter.

Frequently asked questions
These examples explain common situations. The controlling provisions remain in the policy sections above.
Why might my first payment include more than one installment?
Ongoing programs use fixed advance-billing dates. If enrollment begins after one or more scheduled dates, the initial payment may include catch-up installments so the account aligns with the regular calendar. This is not an added fee.
Is the July payment a deposit?
No. July 5 is the first tuition installment for the upcoming Program Year. It is part of the program tuition and is neither a deposit nor an additional charge.
What happens after the SYP six-month term?
School Year enrollment continues at the applicable monthly rate after the initial six-month term until proper withdrawal notice is given. Completing six months does not automatically end enrollment.
How do I withdraw after completing my initial commitment?
Provide at least 30 days’ notice containing four scheduled lesson dates. Those four lessons are valued at $75 each, and Leg Up reconciles the $300 final obligation against tuition already paid in advance.
Can my rider take Summer off and return to the same class?
The prior class cannot be guaranteed when Summer enrollment is paused. Leg Up may release the class space, and a returning rider may need to join a waitlist or accept another suitable opening.
How is tuition calculated when enrollment begins mid-Quarter?
Quarter instructional tuition is $75 for each scheduled class date remaining after the rider’s official start date. Ongoing-program accounts may also require catch-up installments to align with the regular billing calendar.
Does the makeup week create an eleventh lesson?
No. It is the designated opportunity to replace an eligible missed lesson. A rider who completed all ten scheduled classes does not automatically receive an additional class.
Can FLEX-7 dates be changed?
Requested changes are subject to suitable class space and are not guaranteed. Contact Leg Up as soon as possible; do not assume a requested date has changed until Leg Up confirms it.
What happens if Leg Up cancels a class?
Leg Up communicates the appropriate replacement arrangement. A Leg Up cancellation is handled separately from a rider’s personal makeup eligibility.
