At Leg Up Equestrian we are committed to re-introducing the sport of English Riding and Horsemanship to the next generation of young men.

There's a common perception that English riding might be more associated with girls, but that perception is changing gradually. English Riding is by no means a 'girls sport', however, the association of 'girls and horses' as a feminine activity may have discouraged more boys from participating.

This perception is shifting as more young men take up the sport. Riding demands strength, skill, and coordination, qualities that are not exclusive to any gender. Equestrian sports have a remarkable impact on character development for both young men and women alike that goes well beyond the riding skills mastered. Horsemanship teaches Responsibilty, Patience, Empathy, Self-Confidence, Sportsmanship, Focus and Discipline.

With a primary focus on Teaching, Training and Learning since 1997, Leg Up's Riding Academy is recognized for featuring one of the most established youth equestrian programs in the Carolinas and Southeast Region, and has consistently earned their reputation and praise in the equestrian community.

We encourage inclusivity and diversity in equestrian sports, breaking gender stereotypes and promoting English Riding as an option for all interested students, regardless of gender.
